Baboy-ramo in my Mind: Isang Panimulang Pagsulyap sa Mythemes ng Alamat ng Pangalan ng Ilang Bayan sa Laguna
Abstract
The aim of this paper is to examine the legend of the wild boar, which is the origin of the names of several towns in the eastern part of Laguna de Bay. Using Lévi-Strauss' concept of "mythemes," the legend is analyzed as a cultural sign, interpreted through the perspectives of anthropology and local history. This study explores different versions of the legend from oral narratives, written accounts, and social media, and examines its role in the formation of identity and social connections among the people of Laguna. From this, meanings emerge that highlight the deep relationships between neighboring areas, environmental conditions, and the discourse surrounding the origins of these towns.
