<i>Ang</i> Information and Communications Technology (ICT) <i>at ang Neokolonyal ne Eduksayon sa Pilipinas (1945-Kasalukuyan)</i>

Abstract

With basic infrastructures lacking and with existing restrictions in the global trade in information and communications technology (ICT), the current attempt to integrate ICT in Philippine education - which the author contends is neocolonial in nature - will only widen the persisting digital divide in Filipino society. This digital divide has the tendency to replicate the previous experience of creating information elite in education. They became the purveyors and supporters of foreign influences, thereby nurturing the country's dependence on external powers. These powerful countries belong to the so-called information powers.
